But who’s counting??

The last 200 days or so have been exciting to say the least, I am curious to see what the next 7 weeks are going to be like.

I set out planning this trip with a friend and now I am doing it solo. No big deal really as I have traveled solo before and you just figure it out. I know some of you that I have spoke to are speechless that I would head off to a country that has approximately 1.27 BILLION people (Canada’s total population is estimated at 35 Million)… may lack some basic needs and personal security. Please don’t worry as I am a smart woman and will be careful. (Yes mum and dad that also includes you, please try not to worry).

I’m not going to lie; the idea of this trip scared me a little at first. India is such a different world then we-then I am accustomed to. Sure I have traveled before, to countries like Thailand, Jamaica, Mexico, Ireland, and Mexico… but nothing even compares to what I think, or can imagine India is going to surprise me with. Now, I want this trip to enlighten me in a way, to open my spiritual side, bring a sense of peace that I believe my life deserves, although, it is kind of ironic to be heading to a country with a billion to find peace? Hmmm, well I guess we will see what is in store. And like my sister said, if all else fails and I definatly dont like it, check into a resort and enjoy the ride. There is always a solution.

The last few years have been tough with my parents being ill and my sister, brother and I have really come together as a unit, as friends. They truly are my best friends, and this life would be so boring without them in it. The journey that our family has been on has taught me a lot about who and what is important in this thing we call life. The people we surround ourselves with, the activities we choose to partake in, the attitude we have towards people, places and events.

This last year has been particularly hard for me in many ways, and without getting into details or dwelling on the negative I am going to look on the positive, use this trip to re-focus that drive and dedication that I know I have, to give me perspective, to allow me to accept what is thrown in front of me and work with it.

So here is to all the wonderful people that have helped me and encouraged me, supported me and listened to my insistent talking about this trip (just wait till I get back- 🙂

A special thanks to those who helped with shift trades at work, I honestly would not have been able to do this trip without your help. (Anu, Roccio, Trudy, Jeff, Heather, Amanda, Jocelyn, Courtney,Tashsa and Erin), and Mel for the beautiful journal that will record “the places I’ll go”, and the thoughts in my head.

A shout out to Rich & Pete for being there for me even when I haven’t been there for myself.

I encourage you all the follow my posts, I cannot promise they will be incredibly insightful or witty, but they will talk about this adventure I am on. I think it would be fun if you interacted and if you had a question I will try to answer it or if you just wanted to say hi that be great too J

So until then,

“Seize the moment. Don’t expect someone else to do something you want done. If you don’t do it yourself, perhaps no one will. By the same token, don’t put things off to the future. If you don’t do it now, you might never do it at all.”
